The East Midlands Cultural Observatory is a research resource that informs and advances cultural development. The cultural observatory website provides access to cultural sector research, case studies and toolkits to evidence the contribution culture can make to regional and local development and to inform and support policy making.

The Cultural Observatory seeks to improve cultural sector research practice in the region by initiating collaboration, informing methodologies and developing consistent approaches. We provide cultural policy researchers, planners, managers and decision-makers with information, research and advice by developing networks, providing training and hosting events.

The Cultural Observatory is a joint initiative between Culture East Midlands and Regeneration East Midlands with funding from our regional partners. We were established in 2007 following a scoping study led by De Montfort University and Comedia.
